Had a meeting with the posse last night, so I figured I'd let y'all in on our current slate of projects.

After we procure a new camera, capable of multiple frame rates, we'll be shooting a video for a song off of Vollmar's new Tell the Dirt album called "When Love Love Love." I really like Nathan's idea for the video. It really fits the song. We'll have three different shoots, two exterior and one interior. WWC should be acquiring the camera soon, and the video should be shot within the next couple weeks. The added bonus of this is that it is feasible that with this new camera, we'll be able to do two camera shoots in the future. And real slow motion can be a beautiful thing, used correctly. And I have no doubts that we will do exactly that.

I've also written a short tentatively entitled "The Mystery of the Screw" that we're going to try to nail this summer, as well. It's an experiment with something I guess I'll call a "nested narrative," in which the "plot" of the film is the act of storytelling itself. We'll be coming up with ways to visualize a long story being told by a single character, and while that story obviously has its own narrative, the thing the films really about is the telling of the story and why the guy is telling this story, to this person, in this way. What I hope is that it's just really fun to watch. I've sketched out two other things in the same vein.

Here's a little preview of "Mystery..."

Every sexual transaction is a flaccid mockery of a dimly recalled passion. There is nothing now left but the indignities of age: grotesque bodies, enfeebled minds, the burdens of broken hopes and scornful predictions fulfilled.

Our 2008 short doc about the Rube Goldberg contest at Purdue University has been selected to be a part of the first annual Lighthouse International Film Festival. This causes us to feel really stoked. Jennie, Dixon, and I will be attending.

In other news, we are prepping for a music video, and I've written an experimental narrative script we hope to nail this summer. Then onward, then upward. Or downward if that's where the good stuff seems to be. Or offward, if there is such a thing. I think there is.

More info on the everlastingly awesome Rube Goldberg phenomenon here.
